Hangar 5

Hangar 5 is the IWM main restoration hangar. Although originally completed in 1918, it has been modernized since. (Click on photos for enlargement, then click "back" to return)
A large paint shop occupies part of the hangar. Windows are arranged (near the hangar entrance) to enable paint shop projects to be watched, when the area is sealed off from the rest of the hangar.  Current restorations include the DAS Ambassador and the Vampire.    Smaller sub-assembly restorations and re-builds, such as gun turrets, sectioned engines and drop tanks, are also often in evidence. An American F-105 Thunderchief assembly kit also awaits its turn for attention.
